Every day, Danny wears a yellow bracelet that reminds him of his mom.

Years ago, during her battle with breast cancer, he gave her one just like it. Today, it serves as a quiet reminder of the woman whose love, strength, and guidance continue to shape both his life and COPA.

This Mother’s Day, COPA is honoring Rosie’s legacy while supporting breast cancer awareness and giving back to families affected by the disease.

Rosie was the kind of person who made people feel cared for. Loving, thoughtful, and deeply devoted to her family, she brought warmth into every room she walked into. She loved hosting holidays, planning family vacations, and creating moments where everyone could simply be together.

And when it came to the beach, that’s exactly what it represented for her: togetherness.

The beach was where Rosie could slow down with a good book, spend uninterrupted time with her family, and enjoy the simple moments that mattered most. Over the years, those beach days became some of the family’s most cherished memories — and helped shape the values that still live at the heart of COPA today.

The Heart Behind COPA

Long before COPA became what it is today, Rosie played an instrumental role in helping build the family business alongside her husband, Jack.

As controller, she managed the company’s finances, but her impact extended far beyond the operational side of the business. Rosie brought balance, thoughtfulness, and heart to everything she touched.

As Jack often says, “He was the kite flying around, and she was the one below guiding the business.”

The values Rosie carried throughout her life — family, trust, communication, and caring for others — still shape COPA today through the culture Danny strives to build both within the company and beyond it.

A Mother’s Strength

Rosie was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998.

Although Danny was young at the time, he remembers the fear and uncertainty that came with watching someone so important to him face such a difficult battle. After initially overcoming cancer, Rosie’s diagnosis returned years later.

But what stands out most to her family today is not the illness itself — it’s the strength she showed throughout it.

Even during treatment, Rosie remained focused on the people around her. She tried to keep life feeling as normal as possible for her family and always wanted others to feel supported, even while she was fighting her own battle. Her mindset, heart, and caring nature never changed.

After years of fighting with incredible strength and resilience, Rosie eventually passed away from breast cancer. But the love, values, and sense of togetherness she created continue to live on through her family today.

Honoring Rosie This Mother’s Day

Through Memorial Day, COPA is proud to honor Rosie’s memory by supporting Susan G. Komen and helping raise awareness for families affected by breast cancer. Through Memorial Day, COPA will be donating 10% of bundle purchases to Susan G. Komen to help support breast cancer research, advocacy, and families impacted by the disease.

For COPA, this effort is deeply personal. It is a reflection of the values Rosie embodied every day: caring for others, supporting family, and making meaningful moments together count.

Through this partnership, COPA hopes to not only honor Rosie’s legacy, but also help support the families, individuals, and communities impacted by breast cancer every day.

Protection That Matters

Experiences like Rosie’s also shaped the way COPA thinks about caring for families today.

From designing products that help families spend more meaningful time together outdoors to prioritizing comfort and protection, care remains at the center of the brand’s mission.

That commitment to protection is reflected in COPA’s Perfectly Portable Beach Umbrella, which received a Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation for its exceptional UV protection and ability to help families enjoy beach days more safely.

Because at the end of the day, the moments that matter most are often the simplest ones: sitting together by the water, slowing down, laughing with family, and making memories with the people you love.

The kind of moments Rosie cherished most.
